Following a pilot service that ran 1st December 2017 - 29th April 2018, our GP Federation managed a GP in A&E Streaming service at WGH A&E between 1st October 2018 and 5th October 2019.

The 'GP in A&E' service

Patients self-presenting to WGH A&E that are suitable to be seen by a GP were ‘streamed’ as appropriate to the GP by an A+E streaming nurse. The GP then saw these patients in the Minors area of A+E, or CED, in a designated cubicle.
DLH worked closely with WGH to adjust and improve upon the service, in managing operational issues and updating the GP Streaming pathway. These sessions offered an exciting opportunity for our local GPs to work in the A&E environment and strengthen GP/secondary care relationships.
